"Complementary Spring" Original Oil Painting by Marcia Nickols

"We live in Ephraim which is always in the woods somewhere. I love our birches in the forest behind our home, they change it seems every day with something more beautiful. We also love all the creatures who live there and the springs that happen to appear in the different areas.

I used water-based oil paints which are the same as oils but clean with soap and water. I often use the pallet knife and glazing techniques to create more depth. I often use a complementary color for the initial back ground to add more life/color into the painting. Everything I do leads me to another idea to try. I consider it constantly growing and I love it."
