This month’s edition of The Healing Power of Words' writing prompt is
"Celebration"
On Tuesday, December 19th, from 6-8 pm, join us at M3 Gallery, across the street from The Pearl of Door County to share your stories, spoken word, and poetry. During this month's HPOW, we are offering the writing prompt to focus on what “Celebration” means to you! While we offer this prompt, we are honoring a multitude of poetry and stories here, and any pieces shared DO NOT have to be on theme. All writers are welcome, as well as supporters and listeners - it takes a village to create this energetically powerful environment.
Get Inspired and Share!
Each speaker will have the opportunity to share up to seven minutes of original** work and multiple pieces are welcome! Trigger warnings and adherence to these guidelines are very much appreciated.
All community members are welcome whether sharing or not. It is more than okay to quietly slide in late, in between readings, if that is what your schedule allows. Please be respectful of our writers/performers at all times; it takes a fair amount of vulnerability and bravery to bare one's soul in this intimate way.
**For interested speakers**: This event will feature ORIGINAL pieces of work ONLY....as in YOU wrote it!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- We have a new SOUND SYSTEM!!!
- The format of HPOW has shifted to be less structured and signing up ahead of time will no longer be required.
- Bring whatever beverages and snacks you desire.
OUR MISSION: Expanding our vision as a community hub of creativity, artistry, self-empowerment, collaboration, and integrative health & wellness, The Pearl has started a series of spoken word open mics to give our community another opportunity to share their voices. The simple act of listening is a powerful way to support one another and grow our collective consciousness. We see storytelling as the ultimate avenue toward fostering community connection. Storytelling empowers others to realize they are not alone, to share their lives, and build bridges through mutual understanding. These stories will be geared towards young adults and older and will offer an honest portrait and window into our lives. This event will prioritize sharing without filters and the beauty of raw emotion. Our lives are messy and imperfect, and we want to offer folks the space to share all stories - heartwarming or heart-wrenching. Through performance, we honor our stories and empower our voices. We are who we are - unapologetically. Our stories deserve to be told.
***This event is BYOB/F...we suggest swinging through one of our wonderful local joints for grab-n-go or take out! Make a night out of this gathering of community!
