This month’s edition of The Healing Power of Words will focus on "Mother."
On Tuesday, May 16th from 6-8 pm, join us at The Pearl of Door County to share your stories, spoken word, and poetry. During this month's HPOW, we are offering the writing prompt to focus on what “Mother” means to you. Be inspired by the mothering relationships in your life, Mother Earth, Gaia, The Mother Wound, or what BEING a mother means to you. We are honoring a multitude of stories here and any pieces shared do not have to be on theme. All writers are welcome, as well as supporters and listeners - it takes a village to create this energetically powerful environment.
Get Inspired and Share!
Each speaker will have the opportunity to share up to seven minutes of original work and multiple pieces are welcome!
**For interested speakers**: This event will feature ORIGINAL pieces of work ONLY....as in YOU wrote it! You can sign up in advance here (or in store):
OUR MISSION: Expanding our vision as a community hub of creativity, artistry, self-empowerment, collaboration, and integrative health & wellness, The Pearl has started a series of spoken word open mics to give our community another opportunity to share their voices. The simple act of listening is a powerful way to support one another and grow our collective consciousness. We see storytelling as the ultimate avenue toward fostering community connection. Storytelling empowers others to realize they are not alone, to share their lives, and build bridges through mutual understanding. These stories will be geared towards young adults and older and will offer an honest portrait and window into our lives. This event will prioritize sharing without filters and the beauty of raw emotion. Our lives are messy and imperfect, and we want to offer folks the space to share all stories - heartwarming or heart-wrenching. Through performance, we honor our stories and empower our voices. We are who we are - unapologetically. Our stories deserve to be told.
***This event will be held outside, rain or shine and is BYOB/F...we suggest swinging through one of our wonderful local joints for grab-n-go or take out! Make a night out of this gathering of community; we'll have chairs available, however you are welcome to bring your own or a picnic blanket. In the case of rain, we do have a few event tents available as well.
